6th Annual Biodefense Vaccines & Therapeutics

Starting Date: 06/09/2008
Ending Date: 06/11/2008

Description:

Don’t miss the Pre-Conference Symposium: Developments in Biodefense and Pandemic Influenza Vaccines & Therapeutics

About the Conference
The U.S. federal government is strongly committed to building a robust biodefense and pandemic influenza industry with the capabilities and the capacity to meet the nation’s urgent needs. Federal agencies have a continued focus of accelerating the research and advanced development of novel vaccines, therapeutics and other medical countermeasures. The government is striving to help companies transition their products from development to procurement for the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) with a number of programs and initiatives including Project Bioshield and the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Program.

For members of industry looking to participate in these and other biodefense and pandemic related efforts, the Biodefense

Vaccines and Therapeutics conference is the ideal venue to learn the latest and most detailed information on current research and development countermeasure programs, as well as interact faceto- face with high-level government representatives tasked with building the country’s biodefense and pandemic influenza capacity. As in previous years, the conference will provide the private sector with detailed information on participation in addressing the nation’s needs for medical countermeasures. The government’s senior biodefense and pandemic experts will be on hand to explain:

  • Federal funding availability at various stages of development;
  • Processes and procedures for funding access;
  • The highest priority vaccines, drugs, therapies, and diagnostic tools for public health and medical emergencies;
  • Options for transitioning products from development to procurement.

In addition to government officials, representatives from leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms will provide their experiences, perspectives and feedback on:

  • Government programs currently accelerating development of countermeasures;
  • Initiatives to strengthen government and industry collaborations; and
  • The potential to build up a profitable and viable biodefense and pandemic influenza business sector.
  • Once again, this year’s event will feature the Networking Fair, an excellent venue for representatives from government, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, research institutions and universities to come together and explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration. Past attendees have found the Fair a great value-add to their conference experience.
