Location: Davos, Switzerland
This years theme for IDRC Davos will be, "Public - Private Partnership," and the following topics will be discussed: - Climate Change - Critical Infrastructure - Integrated Risk Management - Pandemics and Diseases - and many more
Disaster risk management in the 21st century is a task requiring multidisciplinary expertise and a sound understanding on how different types of risk interact. IDRC encourages the exchange of practical experience, new ideas, research progress and establish best practice solutions.
IDRC links practice, science, policy and decision making in the search for sustainable solutions for the complex risks society is facing and promotes the “integral risk management approach” as a process, which contains a systematic framework for the risk analysis and risk assessment procedures, finally leading to consistent decisions and to an optimized, integral planning of measures. “How do we move to a safer world?” and “How can our current knowledge and capacities support this process?” are key questions to be discussed.
The conference is fully in line with a growing consensus that to achieve risk-resilient, sustainable societies, the management of unexpected events must take an integrated approach. The conference will thus contribute to the UN Hyogo Framework for Action and strengthen links between participants from different areas of disaster risk management.
