Fairfax County Fire and Rescue in Virginia Partners with ZOLL Data Systems for Electronic Patient Care Reporting and Fire Records Management

Large Fire & EMS Organization Selects ZOLL Data Systems to Design and Implement a Fully-functional, Turnkey and Scalable Solution that Seamlessly Integrates with their New CAD System

BROOMFIELD, CO - ZOLL Data Systems, Inc. a subsidiary of ZOLL Medical Corporation (NASDAQ: ZOLL), today announced that the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in Fairfax, Virginia has joined ZOLL Data Systems’ roster of more than 1,400 customers with the purchase of the RescueNet ePCR Suite and RescueNet FireRMS solutions to improve fire rescue response.

Fairfax County’s Public Safety agencies have forged a strong working relationship with the County’s Department of Information Technology, uniting around the goal of an integrated public safety architecture, and have contracted for a solution that includes ZOLL Data Systems. The solution includes an upgrade to the County’s fire records management system, automating the patient care reporting process, replacing the computer-aided dispatch system, and acquiring a police records management solution, all in an integrated environment that reduces the need for numerous custom-built interfaces.

Working through its prime contractor, Intergraph Corp., and using a requirements-driven selection process, Fairfax County selected ZOLL Data Systems’ RescueNet ePCR Suite and FireRMS solutions. Together, the two companies offer an integrated solution that will solve the county’s goal for an integrated public safety information system.

Fairfax County has a population of over one million people in more than a 400-square mile area. Their Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC) received more than 444,000 9-1-1 emergency calls in 2004. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department provides emergency and non-emergency services to protect the lives, property and environment of the Fairfax County community.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with both Fairfax County Fire & Rescue and Intergraph in developing a leading-edge, integrated public safety information system that can help streamline operations and deliver life-saving services more efficiently to their community”, said David Brown, president of ZOLL Data Systems.

This integrated solution will help Fairfax County Fire & Rescue be more effective in preventing, combating, and responding to public safety matters through strategic resource deployment. They will be able to analyze incident data, personnel information, and other resources statistically through geographic-based means to identify trends, assist in staffing decisions and monitor departmental effectiveness. The system will enhance the reliability, accuracy, and quality of data available to county personnel, and will operate on the principles of ‘single point of data entry’ and query.

Fairfax County Fire & Rescue evaluated vendors in a multi-phased process that examined product offerings, vendor qualifications, product development efforts, true interoperability, and customer service.
