UK details strategy for countering international terrorism
By Homeland1 Staff
LONDON — The security department for the United Kingdom recently released their strategic plan to counter international terrorism threats.
The publication released by the Home Department for the U.K., focuses on four strategic factors for reducing and responding to the threat of terrorism:
- Unresolved regional disputes and conflicts
- Violent extremist ideology associated with Al Qa‘ida
- Modern technologies, which facilitate terrorist propaganda and operations
- Radicalisation – the process by which people come to support violent extremism
The report also details trends and outlooks on the future that would impact counter-terrorism, including the continuation of failing states, the use of evolving technology for terrorism, and the continued presence of Al Qa‘ida.
