Conn. emergency manager honored

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Scott Appleby, the city's emergency management director, has been selected as the 2008 Emergency Management Director of the Year by the Northeast States Emergency Consortium (NESEC), the city announced today.
He will be honored today by the st. ate Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, and later in the day with a luncheon in his honor that will be conducted at City Hall Annex.
Appleby was nominated by Bridgeport Police Deputy Chief John Gaudette and April J. Vournelis, executive director of campus security at the University of Bridgeport.
The award is presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of emergency management
