PISCO, Peru — Authorities in southern Peru are ending their search for survivors of last week's earthquake and shifting their focus to recovering bodies and providing aid.
Officials say there is little chance of finding anyone alive under the rubble in the southern port city of Pisco. Wednesday's 8.0 magnitude quake killed at least 500 people in the region, including about 300 in Pisco.
Rescue teams in the town began heading home Monday, while firefighters worked to recover bodies in the debris. The quake destroyed about 70 percent of Pisco's buildings.
