N.H. presses bid for disaster aid

CONCORD, N.H. — Barnstead, Alton and nine other central New Hampshire communities struck by a tornado on July 24 may soon begin to see federal recovery assistance money.

And, during a news conference Monday afternoon at the State Emergency Operations Center in Concord, Gov. John Lynch confirmed that he has asked President Bush and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to reconsider giving aid to private individuals as well as to municipalities to clean up after the tornado that killed a Deerfield woman, temporarily displaced 60 families and caused major damage to 130 residences ...
